Why do a B1 English Test?

From the 28th October 2013, the Home Office has changed its requirements for applicants applying for Citizenship or Settlement. Applicants must now complete both the Life in the UK Test and B1 English Test.

The B1 English Test for UK citizenship is equivalent to Entry, however, since October 2015, you must pass the test at one of the Home Office approved English Language Test Centres. During a free 10-minute consultation with London Pioneer College, you can find out the information you need regarding test centres, as well as find out more information regarding our B1 English Course based out of our Barking, East London location.

Who needs to do a B1 Test?

Most applicants applying for settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) or British Citizenship applications must complete the B1 English test alongside the Life in the UK test. The only exemption to completing the B1 English test is if the applicant holds a Degree or Masters from a verified University.
